Pecha KuCHA: A focused and specific presentation
A pecha kucha presentation involves short, timed slides consisting primarily of images and a focused topic. For my presentation I chose to focus on how children are important to consider when learning about domestic violence. My presentation focuses on how a woman's child bearing abilities can be used against her in an abusive relationship, how the experiences of domestic abuse can effect mothering, and how children themselves are effected by the violence. What is particularly interesting about that last point is that the father/abuser's actions or words often translate over to the children, creating a hatred of the mother. This is a way that the abuser can assert his dominance over what would otherwise be a unique closeness and authority that only a mother could have.
