The abstract of my paper/project
My research paper intends to answer the question of how theatre is a useful tool in empowering women and combating issues facing women across the world. I began my paper with an explanation of this (the introduction is in many ways an abstract of its own). I then provided some historical background/context for the paper so the reader understands exactly what feminist theatre is and the lens through which I am analyzing works of theatre that I believe empower women. I then analyzed these works, giving brief descriptions of what they are about and the styles in which they are presented. I then spoke about how all these different works are about the telling of women's stories and that these stories have the power to influence significant change. I looked at how one of the plays which I analyzed led to empowered women telling their own stories, organizing events, and making a difference.
This is exactly what I intend to do with my the second part of my project. I am writing a play about domestic violence which shall expose many of the myths and realities surrounding the topic, as well as empower survivors. I hope to educate those who see my performance and inspire them to open up about their experiences and as well as help others.
